Me in a Nutshell

As early as age 9,  I found my love for playing instruments after my sister started to teach me piano. This led me to eventually join the Chinese orchestra as a percussionist and the school concert band as a flutist in highschool.  I then majored in digital music and audio technology at college and later had the fortune to take lessons from several great Hong Kong musicians and educators such as Simon Chui, Lawrence Tsui, and Sai Wai.

To share my love for drums,  I passed the Rockschool Drums Grade 8 Examination with distinction in 2012 and became a drums tutor. Since 2014,  I have been tutoring at Tom Lee Music Foundation in Hong Kong, teaching modern music style and culture, as well as drumming techniques.  I focused on helping students find great joy and passion for drums by building up solid techniques and experience, guiding them toward their goals and to become competent drummers.

I have since collaborated with artists in live concerts and studio recordings.  I have also played in various rock, jazz, and pop bands. Among my collaborators were Kelvin Kwan (關楚耀), Ronny Lay from Mr., No.6 from RubberBand, Michael Lai (黎曉陽), Kit Lo from NiLiu (逆流), and other musicians.

 

Achievements

Co-founded a band per se HK with core members Sandy Yip and Stephen Mok in 2013,  I served as the drummer and participated in recording and music arrangement. per se HK launched the first eponymous EP in 2013 and participated in the Hong Kong Tom Lee Music SoundBase Festival for two consecutive years, where we won the gold prize and the CASH Best Original Song Award with the song monocircus in 2014.
